Job summary

Premier Technical Recruitment is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer for a leading automation systems business near Leicester. You will design, detail and manage multiple bespoke SP machinery projects from order acceptance through to handover, using 3D CAD, coordinating with customers and suppliers to meet time and budget targets.

The role requires a degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) with around 7 years in mechanical design for automation, and exposure to risk assessments,

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years' experience in mechanical design for automation machinery.
• Proficient in 3D CAD design, detailing and BOM generation.
• Experience designing for assembly and robust, safe operation.

Responsibilities

• Design, detailing and delivery of multiple special purpose machines from order to handover.
• Lead design reviews and ensure designs meet budget and schedule.
• Coordinate with customers, suppliers and internal teams.
• Produce and maintain a Technical Construction File (TCF) and risk assessments.
• Ensure Machinery Directive compliance and smooth installation.
