Job summary

Cadillac Formula 1 Team is seeking a skilled Mechanical Designer to design mechanical components and assemblies for high-performance racing. You will work in a fast-paced environment where bold ideas are encouraged and collaboration is essential to deliver precision on the track.

You will develop layouts, own projects, specify materials and production requirements, and support the design group to hit performance and delivery targets while mentoring graduates and upholding an inclusive culture.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in Formula 1 or Top-Tier motorsport is essential.
• Proven experience in a mechanical design role, including chassis, suspensions, brake ducts, and hydraulics, within motorsport is required.
• A degree in Engineering or similar.
• Proficiency in CAD software, preferably CATIA 3DX, with a track record of accurate designs.
• Knowledge of mechanical manufacturing, materials, and analysis.
• Clear and concise communication, verbally and via email.
• Ability to prioritise in a time-pressured environment and meet deadlines.
• Self-motivated, innovative, and able to work independently.
• Strong IT skills including MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Contribute to an open, inclusive culture.

What you will be doing:

• Develop layouts and schemes for mechanical assemblies and parts
• Take ownership of your projects, highlighting risks and opportunities to the Lead Mechanical Designer
• Provide complete information for production processes, including materials, techniques, and quality requirements
• Support the design group to meet the overall performance and delivery targets
• To provide guidance and support to Graduate Mechanical Designers to ensure best design practice is achieved

What do we need from you?

• Previous experience in Formula 1 or Top-Tier motorsport is essential
• Proven experience in a mechanical design role, including the design of chassis, suspensions, brake ducts, and hydraulics, within the motorsport industry is required
• A degree in a relevant discipline (Engineering) or similar
• Proficiency in CAD software, preferably CATIA 3DX, with a proven track record of producing accurate and efficient designs
• Thorough knowledge of mechanical manufacturing, materials, and analysis
• Clear and concise communication, verbally and with the use of email
• Ability to prioritise in a time pressured environment and manage personal deadlines
• Self-motivated, innovative, and comfortable working independently, while meeting challenging deadlines
• Strong levels of IT skills including MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint etc)
• Positively contribute to an open and inclusive culture
