Job summary

Cadillac Formula 1 Team at Silverstone is seeking a Graduate Aero Mechanical Design Engineer to join a team of skilled design engineers. You will help develop the wind tunnel model and testing facility, designing mechanical and electromechanical systems for the model.

Responsibilities include delivering high quality designed parts, working on mechanical design projects, reviewing designs, and contributing new ideas in design methodology.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering/Design/Motorsport or equivalent.
  • Recent graduate or within 12 months of graduation.
  • Experience with 3D CAD, preferably 3DExperience/CATIA.
  • Understanding of mechanical systems and materials is advantageous.
  • Awareness of GD&T and part validation techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Support delivery of high quality mechanical parts for the wind tunnel model.
  • Work on design projects for mechanical systems used on the wind tunnel model and aero instrumentation.
  • Review designs and seek improvements for performance and reliability.
  • Contribute ideas in design methodology and processes.
  • Research new technologies and materials for mechanical development.

We have an opportunity for an Graduate Aero Mechanical Design Engineer to join Cadillac Formula 1® Team at Silverstone. In this role you will be work within a group of skilled design engineers in helping develop the team’s 60% wind tunnel model and testing facility, designing and developing mechanical and electromechanical systems for the model.

  • Support delivery ofhigh quality designed mechanical parts for the wind tunnel model
  • Working on design projects in all aspects of the design of the mechanical systems used on the wind tunnel model, testfacilityand aero instrumentation
  • Reviewing designs and developing an understanding on how to improve the performance and reliability of engineering systems
  • Working to achieve the project scope set out by senior team members tocompletemechanicaldesign solutions
  • Contributenew ideasin designmethodologyincluding process and procedures
  • Investigate and researchnew technologiesand materials to be used in the development of mechanical systems
What do we need from you?
  • A degree in a relevant discipline (Engineering/Design/Motorsport) or similar
  • Completed your degree within the past 12 months, or you are scheduled to complete it within the next 12 months
  • Some experience of mechanical design using 3D CAD software (preferably 3DExperience/CATIA)
  • Some knowledge and understanding of complex mechanical engineeringisadvantageous
  • Ability to apply structural engineering techniques for part validation (FEA)
  • Some knowledge of materials and manufacturing techniques including composite manufacture and advanced digital manufacture
  • An awarenessof GD&T and its application
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills
  • Able to perform dutiesin a timely mannerwith minimalerrors
  • Communicate effectively withcolleagues
  • Clear and concise communication, verbally and with the use of email
  • Strong levels of IT skills including MS Office, Word,Exceland PowerPoint
  • Positively contribute to an open and inclusive culture
