Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking dedicated Maths tutors to provide 1:1 support to students in York. The role involves delivering tailored maths tutoring, monitoring progress, and adapting strategies to meet individual learning needs.

Hours are 5 per week between 9am-4pm, rate £20-£30 per hour. A DBS update service is preferred; QTS is desirable but not required. Right to work in the UK and references are required.

Qualifications

• QTS is desirable but not essential.
• Proven track record of improving student performance.
• Safeguarding training up to date is desirable; training can be provided.
• DBS registered on the update service

Students: A-level Student, working below ARE

About the Role:
Prospero Teaching is seeking dedicated and experienced Maths tutors to provide 1:1 support to students in the York area. We work with local authorities and councils to arrange these 1:1 tuitions for students currently accessing alternative provision. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students who may require additional support to reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver tailored 1:1 tutoring session in Maths
• Support students in improving academic performance and confidence
• Adapt teaching strategies to meet individual learning needs
• Monitor progress and provide regular feedback

Experience, Training and Qualifications:

• QTS (desired but not essential) or previous experience working with students on a 1:1 basis
• Proven track record of improving student performance
• Team Teach qualification (highly desirable, but not required)
• Up-to-date Safeguarding training (issued within the last year is desirable; training can be provided if needed)
• DBS registered on the update service

• Hold the right to work in the UK
• Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service, or be willing to apply for one
• Provide two professional references covering the last two years
