Job summary

  • Contribute to development of an innovative and engaging Maths curriculum.
  • Promote pupils' confidence, independence, wellbeing and positive engagement with learning.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, therapists and support staff to deliver personalised learning.
  • Teach across other curriculum areas where appropriate.
  • Create a safe, inclusive and stimulating learning environment.

About the school

Waterloo Lodge School is an independent specialist day school for boys and girls aged 11 to 18, catering for pupils with a wide range of needs across Lancashire, Manchester and surrounding areas. The role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and inspiring Maths Teacher to join our dedicated team. This permanent, term-time-only position is based at Waterloo Lodge School in Chorley, Lancashire, and begins in September 2026. The role involves 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 4.30pm, with a salary from £39,000 per annum depending on experience.

Key responsibilities
  • Deliver engaging and high-quality Maths lessons that inspire pupils and support excellent progress.
  • Plan and adapt learning to meet the individual needs of pupils with SEND, autism and complex needs.
  • Monitor, assess and report on pupil progress, using assessment to inform teaching and celebrate achievement.
  • Contribute to the development of an innovative and engaging Maths curriculum.
  • Promote pupils' confidence, independence, wellbeing and positive engagement with learning.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, therapists and support staff to deliver a personalised learning experience.
  • Teach across other curriculum areas where appropriate and support off-site educational activities when required.
  • Create a safe, inclusive and stimulating learning environment where every pupil can flourish.
Requirements
  • Qualified teacher with QTS and strong subject knowledge in Mathematics.
