Job summary

Parkside House School in Ashington is seeking a dedicated Maths Teacher to join its specialist team from September 2026. The role is permanent and term-time-only, based at the Ashington site (NE63 8AP) with a salary up to £44,000 per annum depending on experience.

You will deliver engaging maths lessons, tailor learning for pupils with autism and learning difficulties, monitor progress and contribute to curriculum development in a nurturing, inclusive setting.

Qualifications

  • QTS or a relevant degree in Mathematics.
  • Passion for inspiring young people and making a genuine difference.
  • Experience of, or willingness to develop expertise in, supporting pupils with autism, learning difficulties or additional needs.
  • Creative, adaptable and able to tailor learning to individual pupils.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Calm, patient and resilient, with the capacity to build positive relationships and motivate learners.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

About the school

Parkside House School is an SEMH independent special school with sites in Backworth and Ashington. The school provides specialist teaching, small class sizes, bespoke timetables and a nurturing environment for pupils aged from Year 6 to KS5. Students present with social, emotional and mental health needs and associated learning difficulties, including autism, ADHD, attachment disorders and oppositional defiance disorder. Pupils are supported to thrive academically, socially and personally by a dedicated and experienced team.

The role

Benefits & package
  • Salary up to £44,000 per annum (depending on experience).
  • 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8.30am–4pm.
