Waterloo Lodge School is seeking a caring, reliable and enthusiastic Midday Assistant to join our dedicated team. This is a role that helps create a safe, positive and enjoyable lunchtime experience for our pupils. In this position you will supervise pupils, support dining, encourage good manners and healthy eating, and help maintain a calm, welcoming lunchtime environment during term-time hours.

Hours: 8 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 11.30am to 1.30pm. Start: October 2026.

Qualifications

• GCSE Maths and English required.

Responsibilities

• Supervising pupils during lunchtime and ensuring their safety and wellbeing
• Supporting children in the dining area and encouraging positive behaviour and table manners
• Assisting with serving meals and promoting healthy eating habits
• Maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and food safety
• Helping to create a calm, positive and inclusive lunchtime environment
• Providing basic first aid support when required and reporting any incidents appropriately
• Working closely with teaching staff and school leaders to support pupils' needs
• Contributing positively to the wider school community and ethos

As a Midday Assistant, you'll help ensure children are well supported during lunch, encourage positive behaviour and good manners, and contribute to the welcoming and nurturing environment that makes our school a great place to learn and grow.

Waterloo Lodge School is an independent specialist day school for boys and girls aged 11 to 17, catering primarily for pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), many of whom may also have additional complex needs. We support pupils from Lancashire and the surrounding areas.
