Job summary

TeacherActive is seeking a dedicated Maths Teacher with QTS to join a specialist school in London. You will plan and deliver engaging Maths lessons across KS3 and KS4, including GCSE content, with a focus on accessibility and pupil progress.

Working closely with teaching assistants and pastoral staff, you will monitor progress, differentiate instruction and maintain a calm, structured classroom that supports safeguarding and wellbeing.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
  • Strong maths subject knowledge across KS3/KS4.
  • Ability to plan engaging, differentiated Maths lessons.
  • Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills.
  • Ability to adapt teaching for different abilities and learning needs.
  • Experience in SEND/SEMH or alternative provision is advantageous.
  • Clear routines, safeguarding awareness and pupil wellbeing.

TeacherActive is currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Maths Teacher to join a specialist school in London.

The school provides a supportive and personalised learning environment for secondary-aged pupils who benefit from a smaller, more individualised approach to education. Pupils are supported academically, socially and emotionally, with a strong focus on helping them re-engage with learning, build confidence and achieve positive outcomes.

As a Maths Teacher, you will plan and deliver engaging and differentiated Maths lessons across KS3 and KS4, including GCSE-level content where appropriate. You will adapt your teaching to meet different abilities and learning needs, ensuring pupils are able to develop their mathematical knowledge, confidence and problem‑solving skills.

You will create a calm, structured and positive classroom environment, using clear expectations and effective behaviour management strategies to support engagement. A patient, flexible and resilient approach will be important when working with pupils who may require additional support with their learning, behaviour or emotional regulation.

Working closely with teaching assistants, pastoral staff and other professionals, you will monitor pupil progress, identify areas for development and adapt lessons to ensure pupils have the opportunity to achieve their potential.

The successful Maths Teacher will have:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential
  • Strong Maths subject knowledge
  • Experience teaching Maths across KS3 and KS4
  • The ability to plan engaging and differentiated Maths lessons
  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
  • The ability to adapt teaching for different abilities and learning needs
  • Experience within SEND, SEMH or alternative provision would be advantageous
  • A patient, flexible and supportive approach
  • The ability to establish clear routines and expectations
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A strong understanding of safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
  • The ability to build positive and trusting relationships with pupils and colleagues
Key Responsibilities:
  • Teach Maths across KS3 and KS4
  • Plan and deliver engaging and accessible Maths lessons
  • Deliver GCSE Maths content where appropriate
  • Differentiate lessons according to pupils’ individual abilities and needs
  • Develop pupils’ numeracy, reasoning and problem‑solving skills
  • Assess, monitor and record pupil progress
  • Identify gaps in learning and provide appropriate support
  • Create a calm, structured and positive learning environment
  • Use effective behaviour management strategies to encourage engagement
  • Support pupils to develop confidence and independence in Maths
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and other professionals
  • Maintain high expectations while recognising individual progress
  • Follow safeguarding procedures and prioritise the wellbeing of every pupil
