Job summary

nmb-minebea in Lincoln is seeking a Mechanical Machinist at Grade 6–8 (£24,454–£27,842 p.a.) with rotation shifts and a 37-hour week. You will read engineering drawings, use standard measuring equipment and operate manual lathes to ensure parts conform to drawings and are manufactured on time.

You’ll also maintain accurate documentation and support team members as required. Benefits include 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, subsidised health care and a company pension.

Qualifications

• Reads engineering drawings and verifies dimensions against drawings.
• Uses standard measuring equipment to check tolerances.
• Works in an engineering environment with basic lathe operations.
• Follows procedures and maintains accurate documentation.

• Ensure parts conform to drawings and are produced on time.

Position Description; Scope of the role;

Applicants should be able to read engineering drawings, use standard measuring equipment and have an understanding and appropriate experience of general turning principles. Tasks will include setting and operating manual lathes and ensuring parts are manufactured within allotted time and conform to drawing.

Main Responsibilities and Activities

• Ensuring processed parts conform to drawing
• Ensuring parts are processed in the allowed time
• Ensuring all documentation is accurate
• Supporting the area in carrying out alternative tasks as required
• Supporting other team-members as required
• Achieving Production / Arrears / Quality / Efficiency targets as identified by Production

Experience and Qualifications

• Dependable, responsible contributor who’s committed to excellence and success
• Good interpersonal skills, (team-worker)
• Prepared to follow procedures
• Previous experience of working in an engineering environment.
• English Language and Maths to GCSE grade C or above
• Computer Literate (ideally with a recognised qualification)
• Experience in the use of standard measurement equipment.

Hours of work

Overtime available when required

A Shift Monday to Thursday 6am to 1:35pm

No Premium Friday 6am to 12:45pm

B Shift Monday to Thursday 1:25pm to 9:05pm

20% Premium Friday 12:35pm to 7pm
