Job summary

NMB-Minebea in Lincoln is seeking a machinist to read engineering drawings and operate manual and CNC lathes. Roles include setting up machines, making offsets, and ensuring parts meet drawings within allocated time.

Applicants should have NVQ in Engineering or equivalent and experience in a manufacturing environment; shift work is involved with A/B shifts and overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• Able to read engineering drawings and use standard measuring equipment.
• Understanding of turning principles, both manual and CNC.
• Setting and operating manual/CNC lathes; ability to edit programmes as needed.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate manual centre lathes to perform basic machining operations.
• Ensure parts conform to drawings and are processed within allotted time.
• Maintain accurate documentation and support team members as required.
• Help achieve Production Management targets for Productivity, Arrears, Quality and Efficiency.
• Assist with other tasks as required by the production area.

Grade Grade 8 (£27,842) to Grade 16 (£39,382) – (TBC based on candidate experience)

Shift A/B Shift Rotation (see hours of work for details) – 37 hours a week

Position Description; Scope of the role;

Applicants should be able to read engineering drawings use standard measuring equipment and have both an understanding and appropriate experience of general turning principles, (ideally both manual and CNC).

Tasks will include setting and operating manual and CNC lathes, basic editing programmes as necessary, making offsets are required, ensuring parts are manufactured within allotted time and conform to drawing.

Main Responsibilities and Activities

• Setting / Operating manual centre lathes to perform basic machining operations
• Ensuring processed parts conform to drawing
• Ensuring parts are processed in the allotted time
• Ensuring all documentation is accurate
• Supporting the area in carrying out alternative tasks as required
• Supporting other team-members as required
• Achieving Productive / Arrears / Quality / Efficiency targets as identified by Production Management

Experience and Qualifications

• Dependable, responsible contributor who’s committed to excellence and success
• Good interpersonal skills, (team-worker)
• Prepared to follow procedures
• NVQ in Engineering manufacture or equivalent / Advanced Modern Apprenticeship
• Previous experience of working in an engineering environment.
• English Language and Maths to GCSE grade C or above
• Computer Literate (ideally with a recognised qualification)
• Experience in the use of standard measurement equipment.

Hours of work

Overtime available when required

A Shift Monday to Thursday 6am to 1:35pm

No Premium Friday 6am to 12:45pm

B Shift Monday to Thursday 1:25pm to 9:05pm

20% Premium Friday 12:35pm to 7pm
