Job description

As Managing Editor, you will be responsible for mainly covering the global medical technology, diagnostics, and digital health sectors. You will track policy, regulatory, and commercial developments across major and emerging markets, delivering timely, in-depth reporting that helps industry stakeholders seize opportunities and navigate a fast-changing landscape.

In this role, you’ll take the lead on enterprise and investigative reporting, collaborate closely with editors on story planning and execution, and help shape Citeline’s coverage strategy in the medtech space. You’ll be expected to produce agenda-setting journalism, uncover emerging trends, and contribute analytical context to fast-moving stories.

Responsibilities
  • Report and write breaking news, features, and analysis on medtech, diagnostics, and digital health topics with a focus on accuracy, depth, and insight.
  • Identify and pursue exclusive or enterprise stories that set the agenda in the industry.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key sources, including executives, regulators, analysts, and policymakers.
  • Monitor regulatory, policy, and commercial developments to identify storylines and trends ahead of competitors.
  • Contribute to multimedia initiatives such as podcasts, infographics, and event coverage.
  • Support editors in planning coverage priorities and mentoring junior reporters as needed.
  • Represent Citeline at major conferences and industry events, both virtually and in person.
  • Meet individual key performance goals, including story output, quality, and reader engagement.
Qualifications
  • Several years of experience as a pharma or healthcare reporter, preferably covering the medtech, diagnostics, or digital health space, with prior experience in healthcare, business, or policy journalism. We would also welcome applications from editors with experience from other regulated industries (e.g, agriculture, technology)
  • Proven track record of building and cultivating strong industry sources and leveraging them to generate original, high-impact stories.
  • Excellent reporting, writing, and storytelling skills, with the ability to translate complex scientific, commercial, and regulatory developments for a global professional audience.
  • Strong news judgment and the ability to balance quick-turn coverage with deeper enterprise pieces.
  • A collaborative mindset, with comfort working closely with editors, data teams, and global colleagues.
  • Confidence in conducting interviews with senior executives, regulators, and subject matter experts.
  • Willingness to occasionally travel for conferences, interviews, and reporting assignments.
