A leading financial services provider in the UK seeks a Governance Manager to implement effective governance mechanisms within its Economic Crime function. This role involves ensuring compliance with policies and managing risks while supporting a hybrid work environment. Candidates should possess strong skills in governance frameworks and financial services regulations, with responsibilities including the development of risk reports and oversight of governance processes. The role focuses on shaping and implementing governance mechanisms within Protect, our First Line Economic Crime function, ensuring they effectively manage identified business risks. You'll take ownership of key elements of the Governance and Control Framework, providing challenge, advice and oversight to drive continuous improvement.
As part of the team dedicated to safeguarding Nationwide and its customers from economic crime, you'll work within the wider Governance, Risk and Control group ensuring operations align with policies and meet all legal and regulatory obligations.
This is an 18 month Fixed Term Contract opportunity.

For this job you'll spend at least two days per week, or if part time you'll spend 40% of your working time, based at either our Swindon, Northampton, London, Dunfermline or Bournemouth office. What you'll be doing
In this role you will lead the design and maintenance of robust governance mechanisms that help detect, prevent and disrupt economic crime. You'll embed ownership and documentation of Protect's processes, working closely with business areas to strengthen and improve their control environment. Supporting teams to demonstrate compliance with internal policies and deliver positive customer outcomes will be a key part of your work.
You’ll also manage the development of management information, ensuring reports are accurate, consistent, and provide senior leaders with clear insight into performance, risks and issues. When problems arise, there will be a need to monitor actions to ensure they are resolved promptly, with clear accountability and documentation. Additionally, you’ll deputise for the Senior Manager Governance and Control representing the team in senior committees, leading meetings and contributing to strategic projects.
