Overview

The Northern Care Alliance NHS Trust is updating the Bank of Interpreters to provide a comprehensive interpreting service to its hospitals in Oldham, Rochdale, Bury & Salford. The service will operate daily, out of hours, weekends and bank holidays as required. Full daytime availability is compulsory in order to be shortlisted.

Responsibilities
  • Provide confidential, efficient and effective interpreting services to health professionals and patients in hospital and community settings on a sessional basis, as required, according to the specified time (daytime or out of hours and weekends).
  • Deliver interpreting via face-to-face, telephone and video formats.
  • Be available for induction training and orientation days.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • possession of an interpreting qualification (essential).
  • Experience of interpretation, preferably in a hospital setting.
  • Knowledge of IT systems is essential (e.g., MS Teams & Accurx Fleming).
  • Full daytime availability; willingness to work out-of-hours and weekends as required.

  • Must be available to work as part of a sessional bank of interpreters across multiple languages.

Pay and Working Hours
  • Band 3 pro-rata (as and when required).
  • Daytime availability essential (6am–8pm): minimum 2 hours paid for face-to-face interpretation and video; minimum 30 minutes for telephone interpretation.
  • Out of Office Hours (8pm–6am) and weekends: minimum 1 hour paid for face-to-face and video interpretation; telephone interpretation minimum 30 minutes at enhanced rate.
  • Plus mileage and parking only paid from base/nearest hospital to another location; no home-to-base mileage or parking for the first appointment to the base hospital.
