Job summary

Select Engineering Limited is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Engineer to respond to production equipment breakdowns, perform preventive maintenance and weekend project work. The role focuses on mechanical and electrical competence, MTTR improvements, and safe operations in the Redditch workshop.

You will drive 5S standards, support root-cause analyses, and assist with the installation of new machinery while backing the engineering team on ad-hoc projects and safety compliance.

Qualifications

• IOSH Managing Safely is required.
• Mechanical & Electrical competence is required.
• Competence in LOTO is required.
• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Respond to production equipment breakdowns and support resolutions.
• Complete maintenance tasks including PMs, stock ordering, audits, investigations, fault reports.
• Maintain 5S standards at shift end and ensure workshop clean-downs.
• Identify breakdown and PM trends and take necessary actions.
• Perform root cause analysis for repeat/major breakdowns.
• Create One Pager documents for significant issues/breakdowns.
• Complete Weekend work list.
• Ensure a safe working environment via risk assessments.
• Assist with electrical and mechanical installation of new machinery.
• Support engineering team on ad-hoc projects as required.
• Assist Electrical Duty Holder with system management and compliance.
• Identify Environmental/Efficiency improvements in production area.

OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

The role will be responsible for responding to Production equipment breakdowns (if applicable), completing Weekend project activities and preparing & executing activities for Preventive Maintenance.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ensure all Production breakdowns are supported and resolved
• Complete all Maintenance tasks including PM’s / stock ordering / Audits / investigations / fault reports
• Ensure End of Shift 5S Standards are maintained in the Workshop and End of Shift clean down is completed
• Identify any breakdown trends or PM report trends and complete any necessary actions
• Engage in root cause analysis of repeat/major breakdowns
• Complete One Pager document for all significant issues / breakdowns
• Complete Weekend work list
• Ensuring a safe working environment through use of static and dynamic risk assessments
• Manage electrical and mechanical installation of new machinery
• Support Engineering Team with ad-hoc projects as and when required.
• Support the Electrical Duty Holder with system management and compliance
• Identify & implement Environmental / Efficiency improvements in the production area
