Overview

As a Maintenance Technician at Tesco across Newton Aycliffe, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring our stores remain a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for customers and colleagues alike. You’ll be part of a skilled team responsible for carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across a range of systems and equipment, helping to keep our operations running smoothly.

Your work will directly impact the shopping experience of thousands of customers every day. You’ll use your technical expertise to identify and resolve issues efficiently, always prioritising safety, compliance, and quality.

Responsibilities
  • Confidently Interact with External Contractors: Coordinating repairs seamlessly.
  • Work Collaboratively with the Team: Be a great colleague who understands the importance of quality service.
  • Sustain High Energy Levels: Juggling tasks while maintaining efficiency.
  • Assist the Management Team: Keeping our stores operating smoothly by maintaining equipment and facilities.
  • Minimize Customer Disruption: Coordinating repairs with minimal impact on our valued customers.
  • Ensure all Tesco sites are a safe and functioning environment for customers and colleagues.
  • Follow the planned work schedule to achieve first time fix, improving efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Work closely with team members, sharing best practice and knowledge.
  • General day-to-day store and property maintenance.
  • Use mobile devices to drive the best approach in work completion and updates.
  • Represent the Tesco brand by demonstrating our core values, maintaining a positive attitude and taking pride in wearing the Tesco uniform.
  • Attend local and national meetings, providing valuable input and feedback.
  • Support a diverse and inclusive culture.
Requirements
  • Experience in maintenance, engineering, or a construction environment.
  • Digitally confident using a tablet to view daily work schedules and manage emails.
  • ONC or equivalent; Full driving license; Health & Safety awareness; Communication & collaboration; Office 365 knowledge; Completed all relevant technical training upskilling modules.
