Jelly Technical is recruiting on behalf of a leading food manufacturer for an experienced Maintenance Supervisor to join their modern production facility in Preston. The role offers a salary of £57,800 per year and a 12-hour day shift pattern that rotates to give two long weekends in every four weeks, supporting a balanced work-life in a 24/7 manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in a maintenance role within automated manufacturing.
• Supervisory/mentor/coordinator experience in maintenance.
• Apprenticeship level qualification in electrical or mechanical engineering.
• Strong communication and organisation skills and problem-solving ability.

Responsibilities

• Maintain high standards of Health & Safety, Food Safety and GMP compliance.
• Lead shift coordination, handovers and provide visible leadership.
• Delegate planned maintenance duties and prioritise breakdowns to minimise downtime.
• Collaborate with other operations teams to improve machinery availability.
• Carry out proactive and reactive maintenance across production areas.
• Complete Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and troubleshoot issues.
• Diagnose and resolve breakdowns to minimise downtime and improve reliability.

As a Maintenance Supervisor your key responsibilities include:

• Maintain high standards of Health & Safety, Food Safety, and GMP compliance
• Ensure effective shift coordination & handovers and provide leadership visibility
• Delegate planned maintenance duties effectively and ensure breakdowns are prioritised to ensure minimum disruption
• Work effectively with other operations teams to improve machinery availability and minimise downtime
• Carry out proactive and reactive maintenance support across all production areas
• Complete Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and troubleshoot mechanical/electrical issues
• Diagnose and resolve breakdowns efficiently to minimise downtime
• Highlight areas for performance improvement and reliability across the site

What You'll Bring:

• Qualified to apprenticeship level or above (electrical or mechanical)
• Experienced in a maintenance role within automated manufacturing with food / FMCG being advantageous but not essential
• Experience in a supervisory / mentor / coordinator role within maintenance
• Strong technical skills and familiarity with CMMS systems and MS Office tools
• Analytical and systematic approach to problem-solving
• Ability to remain calm and effective in a fast-paced production environment
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and organisational skills
