Job summary

Mason James Appointments (UK) Ltd is recruiting a Site Engineer (Days) to join a fast-paced FMCG manufacturing site in the United Kingdom. The role focuses on maintaining production asset availability, minimising downtime, and supporting continuous improvement across the site.

You will respond to breakdowns, perform planned preventative maintenance, and work with production teams to optimise line efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Level 3 Engineering qualification (Electrical/Mechanical or similar).
  • Strong mechanical and electrical experience.
  • Experience within FMCG operations preferred.
  • PLC fault finding and diagnostics experience.
  • Good understanding of health & safety practices.
  • Knowledge of food safety, HACCP, and allergen handling beneficial.
  • Strong analytical, planning and communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain plant performance to targets, aiming for 100% availability.
  • Diagnose faults, including PLC fault finding.
  • Carry out planned maintenance and daily checks per schedules.
  • Respond to and prioritize breakdowns and work orders.
  • Support production teams to optimise line efficiency.
  • Assist with machine operation training where required.
  • Complete maintenance projects, modifications and process improvements.
  • Manage spare parts, documentation and contractor activities.
  • Promote high safety, hygiene and quality standards across site.
  • Encourage teamwork and cross-department communication.

Job description

Site Engineer (Days)

Starting Salary: £46.155 per annum / £22.19 PH

Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

We are currently seeking a skilled and motivated Site Engineer to join our operational team. This is an excellent opportunity for a multi-skilled engineer with both mechanical and electrical experience to play a key role in maintaining and improving production performance.

The Role

As a Site Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring optimum production asset availability and minimising downtime across site. You will respond promptly to breakdowns, carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Maintaining plant performance to agreed targets (aiming for 100% availability)
  • Diagnosing faults, including PLC fault finding
  • Completing planned maintenance and daily checks in line with manufacturer schedules
  • Responding to and prioritising breakdowns and work orders
  • Supporting production teams to optimise line efficiency
  • Assisting with machine operation training where required
  • Completing maintenance projects, modifications, and process improvements
  • Managing spare parts, documentation, and contractor activities
  • Promoting high standards of safety, hygiene, and quality across site
  • Encouraging teamwork and open communication between departments
About You
  • Minimum Level 3 Engineering qualification (Electrical/Mechanical or similar)
  • Strong mechanical and electrical experience
  • Experience within FMCG operations (preferred)
  • PLC fault finding and diagnostics experience
  • Good understanding of health & safety practices
