Job summary

Gap Technical Ltd in Wigan is seeking a Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer to join our client's team at a leading food manufacturing site. You will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of machinery, utilities and site services while maintaining high standards of safety, quality and hygiene.

The role includes reactive maintenance to minimise downtime and planned preventive maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment, along with supporting installation, commissioning and testing

Qualifications

• HNC in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• Proven experience in a similar engineering role at a competent level.
• Strong knowledge of health & safety and food safety regulations.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• A proactive, problem-solving mindset and a collaborative approach to tasks.

Responsibilities

• Perform reactive maintenance to minimize production downtime.
• Carry out planned preventive maintenance (PPM) on mechanical and electrical equipment (if competent).
• Maintain site utilities, buildings, and support services, ensuring compliance with legal and safety standards.
• Support the installation, commissioning, and testing of new equipment.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless communication and minimize disruption.
• Ensure that all work meets Food Safety, Health & Safety, and Hygiene standards.

06:00 - 14:00 (weeks 1&2) / 14:00 - 22:00 (weeks 3&4) / 22:00 - 06:00 (week 5)

Overtime is paid in addition to basic salary.
