Job summary

Latitude Recruitment is assisting a client in Chichester to hire a Maintenance Engineer to maintain, repair and improve production and site equipment for uptime and safety. You will perform planned maintenance, respond to breakdowns and contribute to continuous improvement across the site.

Key tasks include electrical and mechanical maintenance, fault diagnosis, reading drawings, and accurate record-keeping.

Qualifications

  • Level 3 qualification in mechanical and/or electrical engineering.
  • Experience in maintenance engineering within manufacturing or production.
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to read electrical and/or mechanical drawings.
  • Experience with planned preventative maintenance systems.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out electrical and mechanical maintenance on production and facility equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair faults on electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Perform planned preventative maintenance in accordance with maintenance schedules.
  • Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns to minimise production downtime.
  • Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
  • Support continuous improvement projects to increase reliability and performance.
  • Collaborate with production teams to resolve recurring equipment issues.
  • Assist with root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
  • Participate in site audits and inspections as required.
  • Manage contractors and external service providers when necessary.
  • Any other duties where appropriate

Job description

Our clients have an exciting opportunity for a Maintenance Engineer to join their growing team.

The Maintenance Engineer will maintain, repair, and improve manufacturing and site equipment to ensure maximum operational efficiency, safety, and reliability. The Maintenance Engineer will carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), respond to equipment breakdowns, and support continuous improvement initiatives across the site.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out electrical and mechanical maintenance on production and facility equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair faults on electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Perform planned preventative maintenance in accordance with maintenance schedules.
  • Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns to minimise production downtime.
  • Ensure all work is completed in compliance with Health & Safety regulations and company procedures.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
  • Support continuous improvement projects aimed at increasing equipment reliability and performance.
  • Work collaboratively with production teams to identify and resolve recurring equipment issues.
  • Assist with root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
  • Participate in site audits and inspections as required.
  • Manage contractors and external service providers when necessary.
  • Any other duties where appropriate
Required skills & experience:
  • Level 3 qualification in Mechanical and/ or Electrical Engineering (NVQ, City & Guilds, BTEC or equivalent).
  • Proven experience working in a maintenance engineering role within a manufacturing, industrial, or production environment.
  • Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills and/ or experience with mechanical maintenance including bearings, gearboxes, motors, conveyors, pumps, and drive systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and/or mechanical drawings.
  • Experience of planned preventative maintenance systems.
Hours of work:
  • Monday-Thursday 07:00 – 16:30 with a 30-minute lunch break
  • Friday 07:00-11:00
