Job summary

JAM Recruitment Ltd in Daventry is seeking a permanent, full-time Maintenance Engineer. You will respond to breakdowns, diagnose faults, and perform preventive maintenance to minimise downtime, while driving continuous improvements across site equipment.

The role requires proven maintenance experience in manufacturing with strong fault-finding abilities and a proactive problem-solving mindset. You’ll work with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems and mentor colleagues as

Qualifications

  • A recognised engineering qualification such as an Apprenticeship, BTEC, City & Guilds, or NVQ Level 3.
  • Previous maintenance engineering experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
  • Experience working with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic or pneumatic systems.
  • A proactive approach with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience with crane systems would be advantageous but is not essential.

Responsibilities

  • Respond quickly to machinery breakdowns to minimise production downtime.

  • Complete planned preventive maintenance (PPM) to agreed schedules.
  • Identify root causes of recurring faults and recommend continuous improvement solutions.
  • Perform routine inspections and safety checks across site equipment.
  • Support the installation and maintenance of manufacturing machinery.
  • Supervise contractors and ensure all work is completed in line with health and safety procedures.
  • Work closely with production teams to ensure equipment reliability.
  • Support and mentor colleagues where required.
