Job summary

Careerlink is seeking an experienced Maintenance Engineer with a strong electrical/electrotechnical background to join our team in Birmingham. The role covers planned and reactive maintenance of site machinery, electrical systems and manufacturing equipment to ensure safe and efficient production.

You will fault-find on 3-phase systems, work with motors, control panels and pneumatics, and perform electrical testing and inspections.

Qualifications

• Level 3 Electrical / Electrotechnical qualification
• Experience in industrial/manufacturing maintenance
• Strong practical experience with industrial electrics and fault finding
• Good knowledge of 3-phase electrical systems

Responsibilities

• Carrying out electrical and mechanical fault finding on industrial machinery and equipment.

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Maintenance Engineer with a strong electrical/electrotechnical background to join our team. The successful candidate will have a Level 3 qualification and hands‑on experience within an industrial or manufacturing maintenance environment.

The Role

Working as part of the maintenance team, you will be responsible for the planned and reactive maintenance of site machinery, equipment and electrical systems, ensuring that production and site operations continue to run safely and efficiently.

The role will include:

• Carrying out electrical and mechanical fault finding on industrial machinery and equipment.
• Diagnosing and repairing electrical faults across 3-phase electrical systems.
• Working with motors, control panels, sensors and associated electrical equipment.
• Fault finding and maintenance of pneumatic systems and compressed air equipment.
• Carrying out electrical testing, inspections and preventative maintenance.
• Supporting planned and reactive maintenance across the site.
• Responding to machinery breakdowns and carrying out repairs efficiently to minimise downtime.
• Completing routine checks and preventative maintenance schedules.
• Supporting general site maintenance, including identifying and resolving electrical and maintenance issues across the facility.
• Ensuring all work is completed safely and in line with company procedures and relevant legislation.
• Maintaining accurate records of maintenance work, repairs and inspections.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Level 3 Electrical / Electrotechnical qualification or equivalent.
• Previous experience working in an industrial, manufacturing or engineering maintenance environment.
• Strong practical experience with industrial electrics and electrical fault finding.
• Good knowledge of 3-phase electrical systems.
• Experience with motors, control panels and electrical testing.
• Good understanding of pneumatics and compressed air systems.
• Current knowledge and understanding of BS7671 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
• Competence and understanding of working safely under the Electricity at Work Regulations.
• A practical, hands‑on approach to fault finding and problem solving.
• Ability to work independently and respond effectively to breakdowns and maintenance issues.

Working Hours

Monday – Thursday: 8:00am – 4:30pm Friday: 8:00am – 1:00pm

There may also be opportunities/requirements to work some Saturdays or additional hours, depending on operational requirements, breakdowns and maintenance demands. Overtime is available where required.
