As part of our mission to Get, Grow and Keep Great People, we're looking for two proactive and enthusiastic Maintenance Assistants to join our team and support vital property maintenance and fire safety improvement works across our estate.

About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Maintenance Assistant to join our Hard FM team on a 6-month fixed-term contract. This is a mobile role covering Durham, Sunderland, South Tyneside and Newcastle, providing a varied workload across our healthcare estate.

As a Maintenance Assistant, you'll support the delivery of essential maintenance activities, undertake general repairs, and assist with specialist fire compartmentation works. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with practical maintenance experience looking to develop new skills within a supportive and professional environment.

Working closely with the wider Hard FM team, you'll help ensure our properties remain safe, compliant, and operational for NHS colleagues and patients. Full training will be provided, including specialist fire safety training where required.

Who You Are

You are a hands-on, reliable individual who enjoys problem-solving and takes pride in delivering high-quality work. You are equally comfortable working independently or as part of a team and have a strong commitment to health and safety.

  • Assist with fire stopping and fire compartmentation projects.
  • Complete tasks safely and in line with NHSPS policies and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records of works completed.
  • Use company-issued equipment, vehicles and technology responsibly.
  • Identify and report defects, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, contractors, and customers to ensure high standards of service delivery.
  • Adhere to all health, safety and compliance requirements.

What You'll Bring

  • Experience within a maintenance, facilities, caretaking, property, construction or similar environment.
  • Good practical and DIY skills.
  • Ability to work across multiple locations.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • A proactive approach and willingness to learn new skills.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Commitment to delivering a high-quality customer-focused service.

Where You'll Be

This is a full-time position working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:00pm.

This is a mobile role covering sites across Durham, Sunderland, South Tyneside and Newcastle. A company van, fuel card, mobile phone, uniform and PPE will be provided.

Salary starts from £25,000 per annum.
