Job summary

Millcourt School in Shelf, Yorkshire is part of the Witherslack Group and seeks a maintenance worker to help keep the specialist day school safe and well‑maintained for pupils with SEMH needs. You’ll perform general repairs, drive school vehicles and look after the grounds as part of a friendly, safeguarding‑conscious team.

Qualifications

  • Have some maintenance skills, professional or DIY.
  • Have a ‘can do’ attitude – team player who helps others.
  • Be confident taking responsibility for buying smaller pieces of maintenance equipment.
  • Willing to undertake Health & Safety and other relevant training.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out general, day-to-day repairs to keep the school running.
  • Drive the school vehicles and keep them in good working order.
  • Keep the school grounds and garden neat and tidy.
  • Be a familiar, friendly face and support safeguarding training as needed.
  • Contribute to a positive, safe environment for pupils with SEMH.

Please note : if you are successful for this role you will be expected to work 15-18 hours per week

You’ll do all the general, day-to-day repairs needed to keep our school up and running, drive the school vehicles and keep them in good working order, as well as making sure the school grounds and garden are kept neat and tidy. You’ll also be a familiar, friendly face, this means our young people will sometimes stop to chat to you so we’ll give you some training on child safeguarding to give you that extra confidence!
