Job summary

Grantley Hall is seeking a polished Senior Waiter/Maître d’ to lead the front of house team in its luxury restaurant. You will coach, schedule and develop staff, ensuring impeccable service, presentation and guest experience in line with Forbes/Michelin standards.

In this role you will collaborate with kitchen, bar and spa teams, manage guest enquiries and complaints, and drive training, compliance and continuous improvement. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years' experience in a senior waiting or maitre d' role within a luxury or fine dining environment.
• Proven leadership ability with a track record of developing high performing teams.
• Exceptional knowledge of food and beverage service standards, wine service and etiquette.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to listen to guests and staff alike and respond with empathy and clarity.
• Demonstrated commitment to high standards, continuous improvement and delivering a customer first experience.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and public holidays as required by the hospitality calendar.
• Relevant qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 3 in Hospitality) are desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach and schedule the front of house team to ensure seamless, high standard service throughout the restaurant.
• Maintain the highest standards of presentation, hygiene and guest experience in line with Forbes Travel Guide and Michelin expectations.
• Coordinate closely with the kitchen, bar and spa teams to manage flow, special requests and bespoke dining experiences.
• Handle guest enquiries, complaints and special occasions with professionalism, turning challenges into memorable moments.
• Oversee inventory of serviceware, linens and consumables, ensuring optimal stock levels and cost control.
• Conduct regular training sessions, performance reviews and briefings, fostering continuous improvement and curiosity among staff.
