Job summary

Toad Hall Nursery in Hitchin is looking for a Lunchtime Assistant to join our team. This part-time role offers 20 hours per week, 11am-3pm, Monday to Friday, all-year round.

You will support children aged 0-5 with activities under EYFS guidelines and ensure a safe, nurturing lunchtime environment. Unqualified applicants are welcome, though previous nursery experience is preferred and priority will be given to qualified practitioners.

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Lunchtime Assistant to join our welcoming team in Hitchin. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with hands-on childcare experience who is passionate about early years education and creating a nurturing environment for young children to thrive.

While this position is open to unqualified applicants, previous experience working within a nursery, preschool, or early years setting is essential and priority will be given to qualified practitioners.

About the Role

As a Lunchtime Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting children's learning, development and wellbeing. Working as part of a collaborative team, you will help deliver engaging activities aligned with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, ensuring a safe, stimulating and inclusive environment for every child.

Key Responsibilities

• Supporting the daily care and supervision of children aged 0-5
• Assisting in planning and delivering age-appropriate activities
• Promoting children's social, emotional and physical development
• Maintaining high standards of safeguarding, health and safety
• Building positive relationships with children, parents and colleagues
