Job summary

Toad Hall Nursery in Hitchin is seeking an experienced Assistant Nursery Manager to help lead the team and ensure high quality care and education in our Hertfordshire setting. You will work closely with the Nursery Manager to maintain excellent standards and promote the nursery to families.

You will support daily operations, drive occupancy, manage budgets, and contribute to ongoing staff development while ensuring Ofsted and EYFS compliance and safeguarding requirements are met.

Qualifications

• Full and relevant Level 3 childcare qualification and DBS check required.
• Higher childcare qualification and/or a management qualification advantageous.
• Candidates without relevant childcare experience will not be considered.

Responsibilities

• Lead Quality and Compliance: Ensure Ofsted/EYFS standards and legislative requirements with audits and support.
• Inspire and Support the Team: Develop staff and support learning and wellbeing across all rooms.
• Drive Success and Growth: Collaborate with the Nursery Manager on budgets, occupancy and staffing to grow a thriving setting.

Assistant Nursery Manager

Salary up to £34,299.20 per annum

We’re looking for an inspiring leader to join our amazing team as an Assistant Nursery Manager at our Hitchin nursery, which takes up to 123 children per day!

Working alongside the Nursery Manager, you’ll help lead the team, ensure the highest quality of care and education, and play a key role in promoting the nursery and managing occupancy.

• Lead Quality and Compliance: Ensure the nursery meets all Ofsted, EYFS, and legislative requirements through high-quality practice, regular audits, and hands-on support in rooms.

• Inspire and Support the Team: Engage actively with children’s learning and development while guiding, developing, and supporting staff across all areas - from daily practice to performance and wellbeing.

• Drive Success and Growth: Work closely with the Nursery Manager to manage budgets, occupancy, and staffing, contributing to a thriving, high-quality setting for children and families.
