Job summary

eTeach UK Limited is seeking a caring Early Years Assistant to support our nursery team during lunchtimes. You will help create a safe, calm and positive environment where children can enjoy their meals and social time.

Hours are 7:30am–6pm, Mon–Fri, year round, with a 0 hour fixed-term contract. The role involves planning activities for children aged 0–5, upholding EYFS standards and safeguarding. A Level 2 EYFS qualification is preferred but not essential.

Qualifications

• Excellent understanding of the EYFS curriculum.
• Experience planning inspiring activities for ages 0-5.
• Level 2+ EYFS qualification preferred but not essential.
• Ability to create a stimulating environment and foster confident learners.
• Strong communication to build relationships with children and parents.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver age-appropriate activities based on each child’s interests.
• Maintain a safe, stimulating environment while implementing activities.
• Support the nursery ethos and collaborate with the staff team.
• Promote good staff practices and ensure child safety and environment safety.
• Liaise with and support the room leader.
• Update child development records where applicable.
• Discreetly attend to toileting needs of young children.
• Follow policies on safeguarding, health and safety, and food hygiene.

Responsibilities

• To plan and deliver a range of age-appropriate activities focusing on each individual child’s interests
• To ensure that a safe, stimulating environment is maintained for children while overseeing the implementation of activities
• To work alongside the staff team to ensure that the Nursery’s ethos is being fulfilled
• To work with all staff in promoting good staff practices across the Nursery and always ensure the safety of the children and their environment
• To liaise with and fully support your room leader
• To ensure that all child development records are updated, where applicable
• To discreetly attend to young children’s toileting needs
• To agree to the policies and procedures and carry them out to the best of your ability
• To adhere to all nursery policies on safeguarding, health and safety and food hygiene etc.

Skills

• An excellent understanding of the EYFS curriculum
• Experience in planning inspiring activities for children aged 0-5 to explore and enjoy
• Have a completed Early Years Level qualification (Level 2 or above) (not essential)
• Be confident in creating a stimulating environment that enables children to become confident learners
• Excellent communicator with the ability to quickly build relationships with the children and their parents
