Job summary

Storal’s Wragby Road Nursery in Lincoln is seeking a Lunch Time Assistant to join our warm, family‑like setting. You’ll supervise lunchtime, support healthy eating, and help children settle into activities, with a focus on safety, hygiene and positive behaviour.

Hours are 15 per week, Monday to Friday 11am–2pm, with pay £12.71–£12.90 per hour depending on qualification and experience. Ideal candidates hold Level 2/3 in Childcare and have EYFS awareness; experience in early years is desirable.

Qualifications

• Must hold Level 2 and above in Childcare.
• Experience in Early Years settings is desirable.
• Knowledge of the EYFS framework would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Supervise children during lunchtime, ensuring safety.
• Support and encourage positive behaviour at the table.
• Promote healthy eating habits and oral health.
• Encourage independent eating and trying different foods.
• Ensure hygiene routines are followed (hand washing).
• Create a calm, friendly lunchtime environment.
• Assist children with eating or managing meals.
• Monitor behaviour and maintain a safe atmosphere.
• Communicate feedback to parents as needed.
• Help tidy dining area after lunch and reset for next activity.

Hi, I'm Jo, the Nursery Manager at Wragby Road.

With 28 years of experience in early years education and an NNEB qualification, I began my journey as a Nursery Nurse and have since had the privilege of working with children of all ages—from newborns upwards.

I’m incredibly proud to lead a passionate and dedicated team who go above and beyond each day to support every child’s growth, development, and happiness.

How you’ll spend your time here

As a Lunch time assistant you will be a key part of keep our children safe, loved and inspired to learn. Key activities include:

• Supervise children during lunchtime, ensuring they are seated safely
• Support and encourage positive behaviour at the table
• Promote healthy eating habits and good oral health
• Encourage children to eat independently and try different foods
• Ensure children follow hygiene routines, including washing hands
• Create a calm, friendly, and enjoyable lunchtime environment
• Assist children who need help with eating or managing their meals
• Monitor behaviour and ensure a safe, respectful atmosphere
• Communicate with parents when needed, providing feedback on eating or behaviour
• Help tidy up after lunch and ensure the dining area is clean
• Support children in transitioning to their next activity after lunchtime

We’d love to talk to you if you have the following

• An Early Years qualification at Level 2/3(not essential but desirable)
• Experience of working with all age groups within Early Years settings
• Knowledge of the EYFS framework would be advantageous
