Job summary

St Luke's Hospice (Basildon) is seeking a proactive Warehouse & Logistics Manager to lead stores, stock management and distribution. The role involves ensuring efficient receipt, storage and dispatch of goods, maintaining accurate inventory records and supporting clinical and retail teams with timely supplies.

You will manage a small team and volunteers, enforce health and safety standards, optimise stock rotation and KPI reporting, and collaborate with procurement and external carriers to meet

Qualifications

• Proven experience managing warehouse and logistics operations, including stock control and people management.
• Confident user of inventory and Microsoft Office applications, with experience of electronic record systems.
• Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication with a professional, compassionate liaison with internal teams and external partners.
• Knowledge of health and safety, manual handling and COSHH for warehouse operations.
• Ability to lead, motivate and develop staff and volunteers, promoting respect and teamwork.
• Flexible working hours to meet operational needs, including occasional early starts or late finishes.
• Understanding of confidentiality and data protection (GDPR).

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day warehouse operations including goods inwards, storage, stock control, picking, packing and despatch.
• Manage inventory systems and ensure accurate stock records.
• Coordinate deliveries and collections with internal teams, suppliers and external carriers.
• Lead, train and develop warehouse staff and volunteers, ensuring safety and team culture.
• Implement stock rotation, quality checks and disposal procedures to minimise waste.
• Develop and maintain warehouse processes and documentation including KPI reporting.
• Forecast demand and manage stock levels with procurement and clinical teams.
• Ensure warehouse and vehicle fleet are maintained, secure and compliant with policies.
• Maintain clear communication with colleagues, volunteers and external partners.
