Job summary

St Luke’s Hospice Wickford is seeking a Store Manager to lead our charity shop, drive sales, and champion compassionate community engagement. You will recruit and develop staff and volunteers, ensure excellent customer service, manage stock, cash handling, and promotional activity, while upholding our values of dignity and inclusion.

The role offers full-time hours with regular weekend work, in our Wickford store, and potential travel to support events.

Qualifications

• Experience in a retail management or supervisory role.
• Strong leadership and mentoring abilities.
• Proven customer service excellence and engaging store environment.
• Experience handling cash and reconciling takings accurately.
• Confidence using IT systems including POS and basic reporting.
• Commitment to charity retail values and community focus.

Responsibilities

• Take overall responsibility for day-to-day shop management, ensuring high customer service, presentation, and safety.
• Recruit, train, and motivate staff and volunteers in a diverse environment.
• Develop and implement merchandising, pricing, and promotions to maximise sales.
• Manage stock processes including donations, rotation, pricing and displays.
• Foster relationships with donors, customers and the local community.
