Job summary

Virgin Active in the United Kingdom is seeking a part-time Lifeguard to join the Operations Team. You will help create a safe, welcoming environment, monitor pool and spa safety, maintain cleanliness and deliver exceptional member service.

You’ll hold a current Lifeguard qualification and be registered with RLSS, HABC Level 2 or STA, and bring a calm, friendly manner with the ability to act quickly. The role offers 20 hours per week, great staff benefits and employee discounts.

Qualifications

• Hold a current Lifeguard qualification and be fully registered with one of: RLSS, HABC Level 2 Award in Pool Lifeguarding (RQF), or STA Professional Award for Pool Lifeguard (RQF).
• A friendly, calm and approachable nature with the ability to act quickly and effectively at all times.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the safety of members in the pool and spa areas, taking responsibility for personal safety and that of others.
• Act consistently in a safe manner, completing safety checks and recording them accurately.
• Monitor water chemical levels and clean the water when appropriate.
• Maintain the cleanliness of all areas and adhere to the high standards of Virgin Active.
• Comply with all mandatory training and health and safety requirements.
• Fulfil Duty Shifts when required, taking responsibility and accountability during the shift and controlling staffing and facility issues throughout the club.

About the Role

This role sits within the Operations Team and focuses on creating a safe, welcoming and enjoyable environment for members. The role holder ensures the highest standards of poolside safety, cleanliness and member experience, acting as a trusted ambassador for the club. They respond confidently to situations, maintain operational excellence and deliver exceptional service every day.

Required Experience & Qualifications

• Hold a current Lifeguard qualification and be fully registered with one of: IQL National Pool Qualification (RLSS), HABC Level 2 Award in Pool Lifeguarding (RQF), or STA Professional Award for Pool Lifeguard (RQF).
• A friendly, calm and approachable nature with the ability to act quickly and effectively at all times.
