Job summary

Virgin Active in London is seeking two Lifeguards to join its Operations Team on a part-time basis, working 24 hours per week. The role is central to creating a safe, welcoming and enjoyable environment for members, ensuring poolside safety and high standards of cleanliness and service.

Applicants must hold a current Lifeguard qualification and be fully registered, with RLSS, HABC Level 2 Award in Pool Lifeguarding, or STA Professional Award.

Qualifications

• Hold a current Lifeguard qualification and be fully registered, with either an RLSS National Pool Qualification, HABC Level 2 Award in Pool Lifeguarding, or STA Professional Award for Pool Lifeguard.

Responsibilities

• Incorporate a friendly, calm and approachable nature with the ability to act quickly and effectively at all times.
• Ensure the upmost safety of members in the pool and spa areas, taking responsibility for personal safety and that of others.
• Consistently act in a safe manner, completing safety checks and recording them accurately.
• Monitor water chemical levels and clean the water when appropriate.
• Maintain the cleanliness of all areas and adhere to Virgin Active high standards.
• Take responsibility for compliance with all mandatory training and health and safety.
• Fulfil Duty Shifts when required, controlling staffing and facility issues throughout the club.

Education

Lifeguard qualification and full registration (RLSS National Pool Qualification or HABC Level 2 Award for Pool Lifeguard or STA Professional Award for Pool Lifeguard)

About the Role

Lifeguards act as trusted ambassadors for the club, responding confidently to situations, maintaining operational excellence and delivering exceptional service every day.

Key Responsibilities

• Incorporate a friendly, calm and approachable nature with the ability to act quickly and effectively at all times.
• Ensure the upmost safety of members in the pool and spa areas, taking responsibility for personal safety and that of others.
• Consistently act in a safe manner, knowing the importance of completing safety checks and recording them accurately.
• Monitor water chemical levels and clean the water when appropriate.
• Maintain the cleanliness of all areas and adhere to the high standards of Virgin Active.
• Take responsibility for compliance with all mandatory training and health and safety.
• Fulfil Duty Shifts when required, taking responsibility and accountability during the shift, controlling staffing and facility issues throughout the club.

Required Experience & Qualifications

• Hold a current Lifeguard qualification and be fully registered, with either an IQL National Pool Qualification (RLSS), HABC Level 2 Award in Pool Lifeguarding (RQF) or STA Professional Award for Pool Lifeguard (RQF) qualification.
