Job summary

Virgin Active is seeking part-time Lifeguards for London/Bromley area to ensure the safety and enjoyment of members in pool and spa facilities. You will act as a trusted ambassador, maintaining high standards of cleanliness, safety, and service, with duties including safety checks, water quality monitoring, and responsive shift coverage.

The role requires a current Lifeguard qualification and registration, a calm, friendly demeanor, and the ability to respond confidently to situations.

Qualifications

• Must hold a current Lifeguard qualification and full registration (RLSS/HABC/STA).
• Friendly, calm and approachable, able to act quickly and effectively.

Responsibilities

• Ensure pool and spa safety for members.
• Complete and record safety checks.
• Monitor water chemical levels and clean the water when needed.
• Maintain the cleanliness of all areas and uphold Virgin Active standards.
• Fulfil Duty Shifts and manage staffing and facility issues during shifts.

About the Role

The role sits within the Operations Team, with five positions available on a part-time basis of 24 hours per week. The postholder plays a vital role in creating a safe, welcoming and enjoyable environment for members, ensuring the highest standards of poolside safety, cleanliness and member experience. They act as a trusted ambassador for the club, responding confidently to situations, maintaining operational excellence and delivering exceptional service every day.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure the utmost safety of members in the pool and spa areas, taking responsibility for personal safety and that of others.
• Act consistently in a safe manner, completing safety checks and recording them accurately.
• Monitor water chemical levels and clean the water when appropriate.
• Maintain the cleanliness of all areas and adhere to the high standards of Virgin Active.
• Comply with all mandatory training and health and safety requirements.
• Fulfil Duty Shifts when required, taking responsibility and accountability during the shift, controlling staffing and facility issues throughout the club.

Required Experience & Qualifications

• A friendly, calm and approachable nature with the ability to act quickly and effectively at all times.
• A current Lifeguard qualification and full registration, with either an IQL National Pool Qualification (RLSS), HABC Level 2 Award in Pool Lifeguarding (RQF) or STA Professional Award for Pool Lifeguard (RQF).

Salary

• £13.01—£13.01 GBP
