Job summary

Doncaster Council is seeking a Licensing Practitioner to join the Regulation & Enforcement Service, in the Trading standards & licensing team. You will handle licence applications, assess eligibility and monitor compliance within taxi licensing and premises licences for alcohol and regulated entertainment.

The role requires accurate administrative work, effective communication and the ability to mediate with stakeholders.

Job description

The Regulation & Enforcement Service are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to work within the Trading standards & licensing team as a Licensing Practitioner. The team is responsible for delivering the Council's licensing functions, ranging from Acupuncture to Zoo licensing. A significant element of the team's workload relates to taxi licensing and the licensing of premises which sell alcohol and/or provide regulated entertainment. Duties include:

  • the administration of licence applications
  • establishing eligibility, monitoring compliance and bringing to compliance where appropriate. Proficiency in an administrative and compliance orientated role
  • Effective communication and mediation skills
  • Computer literacy, in particular, the use and maintenance of a database
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • A working knowledge of licensing law and practice is desirable. We value a range of experiences and skills. If you have transferable skills from other roles or voluntary work, we encourage you to apply.
