Job summary

Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead is looking for a Library and Resident Services Supervisor in Windsor. This permanent, hybrid role is 33.75 hours per week with a salary of £30,193 - £34,104 per annum (pro rata for part-time hours).

You will line manage frontline staff, oversee multiple library locations, support residents with information and digital access, and ensure a safe, welcoming community space. This hands-on supervisory position reports to the Team Leader for Library Operations.

Qualifications

• Experience leading, motivating and effectively managing staff.
• Experience in busy frontline customer-focused environments.
• Ability to prioritise workloads and handle varied customer enquiries.
• Proficient with IT systems to support service delivery.

Responsibilities

• Manage staff performance, induction, training, probation and absence.
• Support colleagues to handle challenging or confrontational situations calmly and professionally.
• Oversee the effective use and presentation of library spaces and ensure they remain welcoming and trusted community spaces.
• Work with volunteers, charities, community organisations, council colleagues and other partners to broaden the support available to residents.
• Support activities and initiatives that help tackle social isolation and loneliness.
• Oversee local stock management and ensure customers benefit from our physical and digital library offer.
• Help promote library services, activities and spaces and identify opportunities for income generation.
• Support health and safety arrangements as a Deputy Responsible Person for Building Health and Safety (RPBS) for one or more locations.
• This is very much a hands-on supervisory position. You should be comfortable stepping onto the frontline and working directly with residents whenever the service needs you.
