Job summary

Hertfordshire County Council's Welwyn Garden City library is looking for a Customer Service Assistant to provide friendly help to library users, assist with IT support and information resources, and support events and activities. The role is part of the Resources directorate and involves working on Saturdays on a rota.

You will be comfortable using office software, arranging books on shelves and helping customers with enquiries, loans, returns, and searches.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of and experience in a customer-focused environment.
• Ability to prioritise tasks and work to deadlines.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Experience running events for children or adults.
• Working knowledge of basic IT packages such as Office.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers with lending and returns, and locate information.
• Help customers issue and return books and tidy shelves.
• Provide IT support and information services to library users.
• Support ad hoc library activities and events as required.
