Job summary

Tamworth Library in Tamworth is looking for a part-time Library Assistant to deliver a first-class customer-focused service in a busy public library environment. The role covers 18.5 hours per two-week rota, including weekends and some evenings, with travel to other libraries as needed.

You’ll help customers with information and digital services, run activities for all ages, promote events and handle cash. You may need to travel to Burntwood and Lichfield libraries for cover.

Qualifications

• Good time management and ability to work as part of a team.
• Passion for helping customers of all ages.
• Interest in delivering rhymes, crafts and story times.
• Ability to travel to other libraries on short notice.
• Experience with computer-based information systems and data entry.

Responsibilities

• Help customers find information and resources.
• Provide digital support to customers using computers within the libraries or accessing e-services.
• Support projects and activities for all ages.
• Promote library stock, services and events through social media and outreach events.
• Sales and cash handling.
• Opening and locking up Library.
• The role involves a degree of manual handling.
