Job summary

St Patrick's Catholic Primary School, Cleator Moor is recruiting a Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprentice to support learning and pupil welfare.

You will work under Co-Headteachers and SENCO, providing 1:1 and small-group help, assist with resources, monitor progress and promote inclusive practice.

The role runs Monday to Friday, 8:30 to 15:30, with on-the-job training and safeguarding responsibilities.

Qualifications

• GCSE English and Maths at grade 4 or above.
• Willingness to train as a Teaching Assistant Apprentice.

Responsibilities

St Patrick's Catholic Primary School, Cleator Moor are looking to recruit a Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprentice to join their team for an immediate start!

Purpose of the role

To work under the direction and guidance of the Co-Headteachers, teaching staff and the SENCO to provide learning, care, pastoral and practical support for pupils, including children with SEN/SEND. The postholder will help pupils access learning, participate fully in school life and make progress academically, socially and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities

• Support children with SEN/SEND on a one-to-one, small-group and whole-class basis, including pupils with EHCPs, pupils on the SEND register and pupils requiring short-term additional support.
• Support pupils with a range of needs, which may include autism spectrum conditions, speech, language and communication needs, social, emotional and mental health needs, sensory needs, physical needs and learning difficulties.
• Implement agreed strategies, interventions, reasonable adjustments and individual support plans under the direction of the class teacher and/or SENCO.
• Assist teaching staff in preparing classrooms, resources, displays and activities for lessons and interventions.
• Encourage pupils to interact positively with others, engage in learning and develop independence and self-confidence.
• Supervise pupils’ work and provide support, guidance, encouragement and feedback where necessary.
• Support pupils’ personal, social, emotional and communication development, including sensory or regulation breaks where agreed.
• Monitor pupils’ needs, engagement, behaviour, wellbeing and progress, reporting concerns or achievements promptly to teaching staff and/or the SENCO.
• Support pupils with personal/practical care and medical-related arrangements only in line with school policy, individual plans and training provided.
• Undertake pupil record keeping as requested, including registers, observations, intervention notes, behaviour records and progress information.
• Assist with administrative and clerical tasks linked to lesson preparation, resources and pupil support.
