Job summary

St Sebastian’s RC Primary School in Salford is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant Apprentice to join our welcoming school. The role is a fixed-term post for 23 months with potential to continue into a full-time position after training.

Start date is Monday 2 November 2026, with 8.30am–3.30pm hours, Monday to Friday. Successful candidates will undertake an apprenticeship framework in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools at Level 3, plus Functional Skills in Maths and English at Level 3

Qualifications

• Willing to undertake an apprenticeship framework in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools at Level 3.
• Willing to complete Functional Skills in Maths and English at Level 3 (if exemptions do not apply).
• Be able to listen to guidance and follow clear directives.
• Have a positive approach to working with children and develop independent learners.

Responsibilities

• Support teaching staff under guidance to develop pupils' skills.
• Assist across all key stages as needed.
• Promote well-being and positive behaviour in the classroom.
• Contribute to creating a nurturing learning environment.

This is a fixed term post for 23 months with the possibility of a full-time position at the end of the training.

Required from Monday 2 November 2026.

The Governors of St Sebastian’s RC Primary School are seeking to recruit a dedicated and talented teaching assistant to join our welcoming school.

We are looking for candidates that will:

• Aim to develop their skills under the guidance of school staff;
• Be committed to undertaking an apprenticeship framework in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools at level 3 (18 month study period);
• Be committed to undertaking functional skills in Maths and English at Level 3 (if exemptions don’t apply)
• Be able to listen to advice given and follow clear directives;
• Have a positive approach to working with children;
• Commit to developing independent learners and encourage our children to achieve their potential;
• Be flexible in working across all key stages;
• Be able to work efficiently and independently
• Promote a nurturing environment that stimulates positive behaviour and well-being;
• Commit to working in partnership with all those involved in the life of the school;
