Job summary

St Sebastian's RC Primary is seeking a dedicated teaching assistant to join our welcoming school on a 23-month fixed term. The post runs Monday to Friday, 8.30am–3.30pm, with a potential extension to full-time after training.

The role supports learning across key stages and requires enrollment in an apprenticeship framework (Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools, level 3) and Maths/English functional skills at level 3 (if exemptions do not apply). An enhanced DBS is expected.

Qualifications

• Aim to develop skills under the guidance of school staff.
• Commit to an apprenticeship at Level 3.
• Commit to Maths/English Level 3 if exemptions don’t apply.
• Listen to advice and follow clear directives.
• Promote a nurturing environment and well-being.

This is a fixed term post for 23 months with the possibility of a full-time position at the end of the training.

Required from Monday 2 November 2026.

The Governors of St Sebastian’s RC Primary School are seeking to recruit a dedicated and talented teaching assistant to join our welcoming school.

We are looking for candidates that will:

• Aim to develop their skills under the guidance of school staff;
• Be committed to undertaking an apprenticeship framework in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools at level 3 (18 month study period);
• Be committed to undertaking functional skills in Maths and English at Level 3 (if exemptions don’t apply)
• Be able to listen to advice given and follow clear directives;
• Have a positive approach to working with children;
• Commit to developing independent learners and encourage our children to achieve their potential;
• Be flexible in working across all key stages;
• Be able to work efficiently and independently
• Promote a nurturing environment that stimulates positive behaviour and well-being;
• Commit to working in partnership with all those involved in the life of the school;
