A Local Education Authority in Shrewsbury is seeking a Teaching Assistant Level 3 specializing in Positive Behaviour Support. This permanent position involves supporting children with special educational needs in an inclusive environment. The ideal candidate will have experience with trauma-informed practices and a commitment to helping learners achieve their full potential. The role is term-time plus additional professional development days, with salary ranging from £13.26 to £13.47 per hour.

Term Time + 5 PD Days. Scale 3 (Level 3) £13.26 - £13.47 per hour

Haughton School is a primary special educational needs provision for children with moderate / complex learning difficulties. Children also have additional needs that may relate to communication & interaction difficulties, social, emotional and mental health difficulties, sensory and physical / medical needs.
We are looking for a dynamic, caring, resilient and enthusiastic Positive Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant who are committed to an inclusive approach. Your role will be to support teachers and children with proactive, trauma informed strategies to support children to overcome the barriers to learning they have that are linked to emotional regulation. You will be committed to providing the best opportunities for our rewarding but sometimes challenging group of learners and ensuring every child is supported to achieve their full potential.
The successful candidates will demonstrate a sound understanding of the specialist approaches that work best with children who have difficulties associated with communication and interaction and in particular, Autism. They will have a secure understanding of Positive behaviour Support strategies, trauma informed practice and how to positively and proactively support children who are finding it difficult to regulate their own emotions. The candidate will be able to evidence their knowledge, skills and experience in successfully supporting children to reach their potential within an educational setting.
A flexible approach, a sense of humour, reliability, punctuality, stamina, resilience, and the ability to work under pressure are essential.
