Job summary

Teaching Personnel is recruiting for a specialist SEN school in Preston to appoint a dedicated Level 3 SEN Teaching Assistant. You will support pupils aged 4-16 with EHCPs and a range of needs in a nurturing, inclusive environment.

You will work 1:1 and in small groups, assist teachers with differentiated lessons, and help pupils develop socially, emotionally and academically. DBS clearance or willingness to apply is required.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children or young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
  • A caring, patient, and resilient approach.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
  • Assisting teachers in delivering engaging and differentiated lessons.
  • Encouraging pupils' social, emotional, and academic development.
  • Promoting positive behaviour and supporting pupils to reach their individual goals.

Level 3 SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Preston, Lancashire

Contract: Full-time | Temporary to Permanent

Start Date: September 2026 (or ASAP)

Salary: Competitive daily rate (dependent on experience)

Teaching Personnel is recruiting on behalf of a specialist SEN school in Preston for a dedicated and compassionate Level 3 SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team on a temporary-to-permanent basis. The school supports pupils aged 4-16 with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and a range of additional needs, including autism, communication difficulties, moderate to severe learning difficulties, and complex needs. The school provides a supportive, nurturing, and inclusive environment where every pupil is encouraged to achieve their full potential.

Responsibilities
  • Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
  • Assisting teachers in delivering engaging and differentiated lessons.
