Job summary

Teaching Personnel is partnering with a welcoming primary school in Levenshulme to recruit a committed SEN Teaching Assistant. This role focuses on pupils with speech and language needs, helping them develop communication skills, confidence and independence within a nurturing learning environment.

You will support pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, deliver tailored interventions with the SENCO and teachers, and contribute to IEPs and reviews.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children with speech and language needs is essential.
  • SEN-related training or qualifications are desirable.
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

Teaching Personnel is delighted to be partnering with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Levenshulme to recruit a committed SEN Teaching Assistant. This rewarding role will involve supporting pupils with speech and language needs, helping them develop essential communication skills, confidence, and independence within a nurturing learning environment.

The Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting pupils both on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, ensuring they can access learning and achieve their individual goals.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing targeted support for pupils with speech and language difficulties
  • Delivering tailored interventions alongside the SENCO, class teachers, and external specialists
  • Encouraging pupil engagement, confidence, and social development
  • Creating and maintaining an inclusive and supportive classroom environment

  • Previous experience supporting children with speech and language needs (essential)
  • A patient, caring, and proactive approach
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a wider school team
  • SEN-related training or qualifications (desirable)
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail
