Job summary

Teaching Personnel is recruiting a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support a primary school in Preston. The role is full-time, long-term, starting September 2026, with a 8:45am–3:30pm schedule and a pay rate of £14.30 per hour.

You will provide 1:1 support across KS1, help pupils access learning, and work with teachers and the SENCO to implement personalised learning plans in a nurturing, inclusive classroom environment.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs.
  • Patient, empathetic and resilient approach to working with young learners.
  • Ability to adapt support strategies to meet a range of needs.
  • All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role.

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school based in the Preston (PR3) area. This full-time position involves providing 1:1 support for multiple children across KS1 , helping them access learning and thrive in the classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver 1:1 SEN support for pupils across Key Stage 1.
  • Assist with personalised learning strategies tailored to individual needs.
  • Work closely with class teachers and the SENCO to implement support plans.
  • Promote a positive, inclusive and nurturing learning environment.
  • Encourage engagement, independence and emotional wellbeing.
Essential Requirements
  • Previous experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs.

Desirable Experience
  • Experience working with children with Autism (ASC)
  • ADHD
  • Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA)
