Job summary

Guardian Selection Limited in Colchester is seeking enthusiastic Learning Support Assistants to support students in a SEND school setting. You will work closely with teachers and support staff to help learners access the curriculum, build confidence, and develop independence.

This role suits someone with experience as LSA, TA, youth worker, or graduate. You will have opportunities for professional development across in-class support, 1:1 and group interventions, literacy and numeracy support,

Qualifications

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with secondary-aged students and staff.
  • Patience, resilience and adaptability.
  • Genuine passion for supporting young people and education.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Experience in education, coaching, youth work, mentoring, care, or support work is desirable but not essential.
  • Relevant qualifications are advantageous but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide classroom support to students.
  • Support students on a 1:1 basis and in small groups where required.
  • Assist teachers with lesson delivery and classroom management.
  • Encourage positive behaviour, engagement and participation in learning.
  • Support students with organisation, study skills and independent learning.
  • Help students prepare for assessments, coursework and examinations.
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
  • Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.

Location: Colchester

Salary Scale: £93–£120 per day (Depending on Experience)

Contract Type: Full-time

GSL are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) to support students within a SEND school setting. This role involves working closely with teachers and support staff to help students access the curriculum, build confidence, develop independence, and achieve their full academic and personal potential.

You will support students with a range of learning needs and abilities, helping to create a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment where every young person can thrive and succeed.

If you are an experienced Learning Support Assistant, Teaching Assistant, Behaviour Mentor, Youth Worker, Support Worker, Sports Coach, Graduate, or someone looking to begin a rewarding career in education, we would love to hear from you.
