GSL Education is seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant (LSA) in Colchester to support students with a range of needs in a SEND setting. You will work with teachers to help learners access the curriculum, build confidence, and develop independence.

The role involves in-class and small group support, literacy and numeracy assistance, behaviour support, and preparation for assessments. A passion for education and safeguarding awareness are essential for success in this rewarding role.

Responsibilities

  • Provide classroom support to students
  • Support students on a 1:1 basis and in small groups where required
  • Assist teachers with lesson delivery and classroom management
  • Encourage positive behaviour, engagement, and participation in learning
  • Support students with organisation, study skills, and independent learning
  • Help students prepare for assessments, coursework, and examinations
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff
  • Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment

Job description

Position: Learning Support Assistant (LSA)

Location: Colchester

Salary Scale: £93-£120 per day (Depending on Experience)

Contract Type: Full-time

GSL are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) to support students within a SEND school setting. This role involves working closely with teachers and support staff to help students access the curriculum, build confidence, develop independence, and achieve their full academic and personal potential.

You will support students with a range of learning needs and abilities, helping to create a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment where every young person can thrive and succeed.

If you are an experienced Learning Support Assistant, Teaching Assistant, Behaviour Mentor, Youth Worker, Support Worker, Sports Coach, Graduate, or someone looking to begin a rewarding career in education, we would love to hear from you.

  • In-class support across a variety of subjects

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students' academic progress, engagement, and wellbeing. You will work closely with teachers, pastoral teams, and other professionals to help students overcome barriers to learning and reach their full potential.

Qualifications and Skills:
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with secondary-aged students and staff
  • Patience, resilience, and adaptability
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people and education
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Experience in education, coaching, youth work, mentoring, care, or support work is desirable but not essential
  • Relevant qualifications are advantageous but not required
