Job summary

Maiden Erlegh School in Lower Earley, near Reading, seeks a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support individual students and small groups, enabling access to the curriculum and boosts in confidence and independence. You will respond to SEND and behavioural needs using agreed strategies and resources to help students participate fully.

You will work with teachers to understand objectives, check understanding, provide prompts, feedback and promote inclusive learning environments that support

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 / CACHE Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent.
• NVQ Level 2 in English and mathematics or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Work with teachers to understand lesson objectives, planned activities and student support needs.
• Support individual students and small groups to access learning activities and develop independence.
• Check understanding and provide appropriate support with prompts.
• Encourage participation, thinking skills and pride in work.
• Provide constructive feedback to students and share observations with teachers.
• Support positive behaviour and maintain a safe learning environment.
• Support students with SEND through agreed strategies and interventions.
• Help students develop confidence, resilience and independence in learning.
• Prepare and organise learning resources and intervention groups.
