Job summary

Maiden Erlegh Chiltern Edge is seeking a Teaching Assistant to support high‑quality teaching and learning, helping individual students and small groups access the curriculum. You will respond to learning, SEND and behavioural needs using agreed strategies and resources.

You will contribute to an inclusive learning environment, enabling students to participate in lessons and progress toward their targets. Collaboration with teachers and SEND staff is essential, with safeguarding a priority.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 / CACHE Level 2 in Supporting Teaching & Learning desirable.
• NVQ Level 2 in English and mathematics.
• Strong questioning, observation and assessment skills.
• Understanding of positive behaviour management approaches.
• Calm, adaptable, reliable and attentive to safeguarding.

Responsibilities

• Work with individual students and small groups to clarify instructions and support understanding.
• Assist with learning resources, equipment and materials as directed.
• Check understanding and provide timely support, using prompts where required.
• Encourage independence, engagement and pride in learning.
• Provide constructive feedback to help students progress.
• Observe engagement and share feedback with teachers.
• Support classroom routines and positive behaviour.
• Support students with SEND through agreed strategies and interventions.
• Deliver targeted interventions to individuals or small groups as directed by SENCO.
• Help students build confidence, resilience and independence.
