Job summary

Maiden Erlegh School in Reading is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support students in accessing the curriculum and engaging with lessons. You will work closely with teachers and SEND colleagues to help individuals and small groups make progress and develop independence in a positive, inclusive learning environment.

In this role you will reinforce high expectations, support behaviour routines, and promote respectful relationships to enable student wellbeing and engagement.

Qualifications

• Holds a relevant Level 2 qualification in supporting teaching and learning or equivalent.
• Holds Level 2 qualifications in English and mathematics.
• Demonstrates effective questioning, observation and assessment skills to support student learning.
• Understands the role of a teaching assistant in supporting and supervising students within structured learning activities.

Responsibilities

• Support delivery of teaching and learning by assisting with activities and progress.
• Work with individual students and small groups to clarify instructions and promote independence.
• Support use of learning resources and equipment during lessons.
• Monitor engagement and provide feedback to inform teaching approaches.
• Provide timely support during lessons through prompting, questioning, reading or scribing.
