Job summary

Philip Morant School and College in Colchester is seeking a Learning Support Assistant. The role supports learners with SEND in class and interventions, acting as a key worker, and arranging withdrawal interventions.

The position is part-time (30 hours/week, Mon-Fri, 8:30–15:00) for 39 weeks per year including term time and non-pupil days. Training and CPD opportunities are available within the Sigma Trust.

Qualifications

  • Recent experience working with children in a learning environment.
  • Ability to apply various behaviour management policies to create a purposeful learning environment.
  • Completion of appropriate SEN training or willingness to undertake training.

Position Summary

Learning Support Assistant at Philip Morant School and College, a large secondary school in Colchester. The role supports learners with Special Educational Needs in full class settings, interventions, and as a key worker. The position is part‑time (30 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 3:00 pm) and runs 39 weeks per year including term time and non‑pupil days.

Responsibilities
  • Provide classroom support to individuals or small groups of students with SEND.
  • Act as a key worker, supporting identified students across all areas of their SEND needs.
  • Assist in planning, organising and implementing withdrawal interventions.
  • Complete Individual Plans and Pupil Passports together with students and parents.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Successful recent experience working with children in a learning environment.
  • Ability to apply a range of behaviour management policies and strategies to create a purposeful learning environment.
  • Completion of appropriate SEN training (or willingness to undertake training).
  • Experience with hearing or visually impaired students is an advantage; ELSA qualifications are welcome but not essential.
